Alchemy Key Basics to Consider  (part one)

Many of any golfers difficulties are largely due to confused ideas and ignorance of their true interests and desires for golf.

Clear thinking and solid intention of what you desire to create when you play are incalculable values.  All processes, even those of the slightest thought, rest on the solid foundation of where each players golf game is launched from.

The keener the sensibilities, the more acute the judgement, the more refined the feelings of what you desire to see when you play lead you to higher potentials and greater outcomes. The more subtle the intelligence, the loftier the aspiration and goal- the purer and more intense are the gratifications which your golf game can yield for you.

The powers, uses and possibilities of the mind under the interpretations and aspirations you have can be incomparably more wonderful than the most extravagant accomplishment on the course, or even dreams of how low your handicap can go.

Thought is energy.  Active thought is active energy; concentrated thought is concentrated energy.  Thought concentrated on a definite purpose becomes power.  This is the power which is being used by those who do not believe in the virtue of lack in their game or self denial of what they can accomplish on the course.  Truly accomplished golfers who have a deep drive to succeed, see talk form themselves or from others that revolve around victimhood when they play see this language as one of weakness!

Many times when I am giving a playing lesson to a student who is more concerned about their swing mechanic on the course and not their desired outcome, this player performs at a lower rate of success than they could have played.

This is primarily because many shots that they are trying to create when they play are reflected upon after the shot (or even before) from a perspective of the player continually lacking the better mechanics when they play.

This frame of mind is not from a base of infinite potential of what can be created when playing.  The ability to manifest better shots and outcomes on the course depends upon the ability to recognize the infinite potential and energy that dwells in every player.  The exact proportion that a player sees and understand this infinite energy and potential they have, will then be reflected from shot to shot when they play or practice.

Let's consider some basis of Alchemy of Golf that can assist you then:
  1. The operations of the mind are produced by two parallel modes of activity, the conscious and the other the subconscious.
  2. The subconscious, logical processes are carried on with certainty and regularity which would be impossible if there existed the possibility of error.  Our mind is so designed that it prepares for us the most important foundations of cognition while we do not have the slightest apprehension of the method in which this is done.
  3. The subconscious soul, like a benevolent stranger, works and makes provisions for our benefit, pouring enhancing circumstances into our lap for continued growth as an individual.
  4. Ease and perfection depend entirely upon the degree in which we cease to depend upon the consciousness; playing a piano, skating, hitting a putt or striking a drive off the tee.  These tasks depend for their perfect execution on the process of the subconscious mind.  The marvel of playing a piano and talking while doing so, or driving your car while on your phone on a conference call  shows the greatness of the subconscious powers.
  5. We are all aware how dependent we are upon the subconscious, and the greater our accomplishments we reflect to see we are endowed with tremendous instinct to create, from the subconscious mind.
  6. The value of the subconscious is enormous: It inspires us, warns us: it furnishes us with names, facts and scenes from storehouses of memory of past good shots and poor ones if we choose to look there. It directs our thoughts, tastes and accomplishments that no conscious mind has the capacity to do.
  7. We can walk at will, swing a club at will on the range, grab a club from our bag at will.  We can give our attention through eye or ear to any subject at our pleasure or will. On the other hand, we cannot stop our heartbeats nor the circulation of the blood, nor the growth of stature or nerve and muscle tissue.
  8. If we compare these two sets of action - the one decreed by the will of the moment, and the other proceeding in majestic rhythmic course with no vacillation, but constant for every moment- we sand in awe and want to have these mysteries explained.  As you can see these are vital processes of our physical lives.
  9. Of these two powers, the outward and changeable has been termed the Conscious Mind or the "Objective Mind" (dealing with outward objects).  The interior power is called the Subconscious Mind or the "Subjective Mind" and besides its work on the mental plane it controls the regular functions that makes physical life possible.
  10. It is necessary to have a clear understanding of their respective functions on the mental plane, as well as of certain other basic principles.   This is the beginning of the Keys to Alchemy.  In part 2, we will traverse further to explore more.

I find the idea of harnessing mental energy to improve golf performance very intriguing.
